COVID-19 Booster Update

September 12, 2022

Earlier this month, the CDC approved updated versions of the COVID-19 booster, which is available to Franklin County residents ages 12 and up. This booster includes an updated version of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech and only requires one dose. It can be received two months after your last COVID-19 vaccine (either booster or primary series).

The updated boosters are made to include additional protection against the very-contagious omicron variant – specifically BA.4 and BA.5. These variants which make up almost all cases in the US at this time.

If you have received the two-dose primary series of either vaccine OR if you received your primary series and one or two boosters, you are eligible for this updated booster as long as two months have passed since your last shot. Visit our vaccine webpage to learn more about our clinics.

The BA.4 and BA.5 variants are predicted to spread this fall and winter. Vaccines, including boosters, continue to save lives. Getting the shot is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness, hospitalization or death.
