This
week the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Central Ohio Mayors &
Managers Association and Franklin County Township Association announced their
support for trick-or-treat activities in celebration of Halloween. Franklin
County Public Health (FCPH) has been proactively working with these
organizations throughout the entire COVID-19 response and we were happy to be
part of their discussion on this topic. FCPH shared its Halloween
trick-or-treating recommendations during their planning and shares in their
support of these prevention messages. In the meantime you can review our
recommendations here to start planning for a safe
Halloween. One important recommendation is that everyone 6 months and
older get a flu shot this year at least two weeks before Halloween to reduce
the spread of the flu.
As a community, Franklin County continues to see the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the 20-29 age range. In order to reach this population FCPH is pleased to be working alongside the Franklin County Board of Commissioners on a “Spread Love Not COVID” campaign. This will include radio, digital and online resources. More details will be coming soon.
Please continue to visit the FCPH website often and follow us on all social media platforms for the most current information on COVID-19. And continue to take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing your face covering, social distance, avoid large crowds and wash your hands frequently. We are making progress and with your help we will continue to protect the health of our community.
